Health benefits of baking soda

Baking soda is also known as sodium bicarbonate. Normally baking soda is used in cooking but it can also be used in our daily life for various health benefits.

Helps in sunburn

Our skin is affected by sun in the summer season. Our body parts that are not covered by clothes like hand, neck, face, etc are affected by the sunburn most.

Instead of using costly chemical cream, you can treat this with the help of baking soda.

Mix baking soda with water and apply it to the affected areas. Keep it for 15 minutes and then wash.


If you are not willing to spend money on pedicure then baking soda is there for you. For this, take a bucket of water and pour a half tablespoon of baking soda in it.

Put your feet in this water for 30 minutes. Take out your feet after 30 minutes. You can rub them gently if needed. Now wash them with normal water and apply moisturizer.

This will give a shine to your feet. also, it is very helpful in cracked heels.

Remove yellow colour of teeth

If you have yellow teeth then make a paste of baking soda and water. Rub this mixture on your teeth for 3 to 4 minutes with the help of toothbrush.

It breaks the bond between plaque and outer covering of teeth and gives you whiter teeth.

keep in mind that you can use this only twice a week. Do not use this more than 2 times a week as it can cause damage to your gums.

For beautiful hands

Many housewives have the problem of rough hands. Daily housework causes hand skin crack and dry.

Mix baking soda in coconut oil and apply to the inner and outer skin of hands. It will cure hardness and give you soft hand skin.

Cure pimples

If you have pimples all on your face then don’t worry. Take a tablespoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of water.

Make a thick paste of it and apply to your face. It will cure not only pimples but also pimple marks.

Helps in stomach ache

Overeating and junk foods can cause stomach ache. When we consume baking soda, it neutralises the stomach acid and reduces stomach ache.

Indigestion occurs when the contents of the stomach, which are acidic, start to move up the oesophagus, causing burning pain.

Bicarbonate of soda, otherwise known as baking soda, is helpful because it is alkaline, so it can neutralise the stomach acid.

Can be used as mouthwash

Baking soda can also be used as a mouthwash. It kills the bacteria present in the mouth and removes bad odour.

This is because baking soda has antibacterial properties. It makes a basic nature environment in your mouth and prevents the bacterias to develop.

For this, mix half teaspoon of baking soda in half lukewarm glass of water. Now use this water as a normal mouthwash.

A toothbrush cannot reach every corner of your mouth but water can. So this is very helpful after brushing your teeth. It also prevents teeth and gum problems.
